A Sight for Sore Eyes

Our quest to follow Christ brings us to the eighth chapter of Mark where we find three stories of sight; three versions of vision. Only one of the stories is literally about the human eye, but all three stories are about the human heart; the eye of the soul; the capacity to see what can’t be seen; to discern; to know; to understand; to realize. It is the greatest vision of all and one of the essentials for great discipleship. When is the last time you had your vision tested? I am neither an ophthalmologist nor an optometrist, but I believe with the help of the Holy Spirit I can give you a divine vision test through the use of these three stories. Let’s see what we can see! This chapter from God’s Word really is “a sight for sore eyes.”
